   The joint

The joint (or sticky if it's a solitary thing) is probably the easiest and most portable way of smoking marijuana. Weed (the dried, flowering tops of the plant) is cut and smoked either mixed with tobacco (there's your normal joint) or without (some may call this a reefer). Hash (the solid-state marijuana) is usually heated, crumbled and mixed with tobacco.
The joint is rolled like a cigaret, but usually somewhat bigger. The reefer has no tobacco to fill it up, so it's usually tight and thin. If you have never rolled a cigaret before; practice makes perfect. (Just please don't get addicted to tobacco).
This is the most common method of taking marijuana. It is also the fastest way to experiencing its effects. Smoking does have some drawbacks though...the active ingredient (THC) is partially broken down while smoking (because of the high temperatures.) Burning up the hashish also produces some nasty chemicals (like any normal cigaret does). Some of these toxins can be removed if the smoke is filtered through water (in a bong, or water-pipe). Some studies have shown THC has a bronchiodialator effect, which means it could be helpful in cleaning the lungs.
